Meet The Lexiteers

After giving almost no attention to the referendum campaigns leading up to the 2016 vote, I since became determined to understand why so many people think Britain would do better out of Europe. In particular, I kept asking myself, why did Labour voters choose to leave? As far as I understand it, two-thirds of Labour constituencies were for Brexit. Most in the north. I was already aware that the New Labour project had hemorrhaged support from descendants of working class people Labour was founded to represent. But it felt too easy just to dismiss this as a protest vote. Many times I heard the claim: Leavers didn’t know what they were voting for. So I decided to ask them. Here is the result. A short film shot in Doncaster, South Yorkshire, with a group of Leave voting lefties. Doncaster voted 69% to leave. It is represented by three Labour MPs, a Labour Council and a Labour Mayor.
